Superintendent Kowba at Mira Mesa High School's Dedication Ceremonymmhs-celibration300

There are only seven schools in the state of California that received both the California Distinguished School and Exemplary Career Technical Education Program awards for excellence. On Thursday, December 15, 2011, Mira Mesa High School celebrated their success by unveiling the plaques that were permanently placed in the wall of the MMHS Administration building.

In attendance and with inspiring words were: Superintendent Bill Kowba; Board President John Lee Evans; CCTE Director, Shawn Loescher; Councilman Carl De Maio; and MMHS Principal, Scott Giusti. The event featured the AFJROTC Saber team cadets, color guard, and 100 plus cadets greeted our many distinguished guests and community supporters. The celebration included entertainment by the Madrigal choir and a saxophone quartet.

The plaques were unveiled with a drum roll and then there was a reception with donations from major school supporter, Chick-Fil-A.

Nellie Meyer, Deputy Superintendent and the many other dignitaries present expressed pride in the achievements of Mira Mesa High School's students. It was a pleasant time for all who attended and MMHS looks forwards to hosting future ceremonies to come.
