District will provide free meals to students at several sites in San Diego

San Diego Unified Food and Nutrition Services will be conducting a drive thru / walk-up distribution of daily prepared meals, free of charge. Children will need to be present to receive meals, and each child 18 years and younger may take one lunch and one breakfast for the next day.

All food is to be taken and consumed offsite. Meal distribution times for all locations will be from Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ericson Elementary and Jonas Salk Elementary were honored under the 2020 California Distinguished Schools Award Program. Sponsored by the California Department of Education and presented by California Casualty, the program recognizes outstanding education programs and practices. The fireworks we enjoy each 4th of July aren’t paid by the city. Donations from Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch residents and local businesses keep the celebration display going each year. The cost of the fireworks has gone up and we need more money to keep up with the cost.

We’re trying to raise $5,000.00 dollars to cover that gap in our usual donation pledge.

Due to concerns of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel the Taste of Mira Mesa.

The silent auction will go live in April

The Taste of Mira Mesa event will be held at Veloce Motors The Vault on Dowdy Drive in the Miramar area on March 21, 2020 from 5:00-9:00 PM.  Tickets are $35 and $40 at the door.

The event will include a variety of restaurants to sample, a silent auction, raffles and a live auction. For more information visit miramesahighschoolfoundation.org

For the second time this month, independent researchers have found the San Diego Unified School District is leading the state in academic gains.
